JOHENS® Nail Art Competition 2024

 Please read the competition information, which includes the General Competition Rules and Information and the specific rules and judging criteria for the competitions.

 Qualifications:

 JOHENS® Competitions are open to all beauty professionals licensed or qualified to perform nail services. Current students and beauty professionals from states or countries in which licensing is not required are also eligible to compete. Proof of licensure or qualification (such as school enrollment certificate or letter confirming Salon/Business employment) may be required, so please bring proof of your cosmetology, nail technician or manicurist license.

 General Rules:

 ** BROKE ANY RULES ARE SUBJECT TO POINT DEDUCTIONS AND/OR DISQUALIFICATION!

 

  1. All work for each entry must be completed by the competitor registered for that competition. If JOHENS® finds this rule has been violated, the competitor will be followed disqualification

 

  1. Competitors may turn in more than one entry. It is up to the competitor to get the entry to the competition and arrange for the entry to be returned to the competitor.

 JOHENS® will only be responsible for any turn in entries prior to the competition deadline. We will not be accepting entries arriving on site later than the registration on October 15th and will not be responsible for returning entries to the competitor.

  1. It is the responsibility of the competitor to be sure all entries are received. You must EMAIL: info@johens.com and confirm numbers and competition type of entrees as well as the number of entrees.

 

  1. Any competitor found not complying with the JOHENS® rules before, during or until the close of the event is subject to disqualification.

 

 

  1. Upon registration, competitors give consent to JOHENS® and all its properties to freely use in any form or manner they seem fit for JOHENS®. In addition, to reproduce all photographs, videos or such taken at the event, including those taken by photographers. Not limited to anyone working in conjunction with JOHENS® Competitions. All photos, images and videos or film shot are property of JOHENS® and may not be used without written permission. Your registration is considered as a signed release.

 

  1. Themes: Are guideline rules. If the themes are not followed disqualification or point, deductions are possible. Decision will be that of the JOHENS® judges and will be announced during awards ceremony. (The Awards ceremony will take place on the afternoon of October 18 at VIP Nail Art Camp, Atlantic City, NJ)

 

 

  1. Competitors must designate their level of experience when they register.

 

- A NEWBIE Artist competitors who attend beauty or nail-related academies or held license less than two years are eligible and must provide a proof of qualification (student ID or license).

 

- A NOVICE Artist competitor licensed nail tech more than two years and has not won first-place in any DIVISIONAL NAIL ART competition at any Competition.

 

- A VETERAN Artist competitor has won first-place in any DIVISIONAL OR NON-DIVISIONAL NAIL ART competition at any Competition.

 

Three judges preview the newbie entries, novice entries and veteran entries as three separate groups.

 

 

  1. Competitions Fee

ART NAIL COMPETITIONS: (Unit: USD/Entry)

 

DIMENSIONAL nail art: $100 Veteran | $80 Novice | $50 Newbie

FLAT DESIGNS nail art: $100 Veteran | $80 Novice | $50 Newbie

CHROME & EMBOSSING & STAMPING nail art: $80 Non-divisional category

 (Competitors may submit more than one entry but must pay a registration fee for each entry. If submitting more than one entry.)

Registration fee is not refundable under any circumstances.

 

  1. Competitors may not post any of their competition work to any social media platform whatsoever before the awards ceremony! Any competitor found violating this rule will possibly be given a warning or more likely disqualified from that competition in which they posted their work.

 

  1. All Competition Veteran, Novice and Student winners will receive a medallion and certificates unless otherwise noted.

 

  1. The finalists at each level are viewed simultaneously during the scoring process. Finalists are evaluated in ten categories; each category is worth a possible ten points, ranging from 1 (Unacceptable) to 5 (Flawless) except where otherwise noted. Each of the judges is responsible for three to four categories. The categories for each competition are listed in the rules specific to that competition. Only finalists receive score sheets.

 

  1. The competition staff calculates the final scores, and the judges verify the placements before excusing the finalists. Any ties will be broken by the Head Judge. The decision of the judges is final.

 

  1. If there are not at least 3 entries in one division, the entrants will be moved to the next division.
